Shopping bag with a magnifying glass against a blue background, surrounded by glowing stars. A whimsical, product research theme.

Transparency, curated picks, and a little behind-the-scenes “thank you.”

If you’ve ever clicked on a product link here at The Quirky Curator and seen the note that says “affiliate link,” you might have wondered:

What does that actually mean?Does it change the price? And why do I use them?

All great questions — and I’m glad you asked. Let’s break it down, no jargon required.

What Is an Affiliate Link?

It’s basically a regular link… with a little bonus built in.

When you click an affiliate link I’ve shared and make a purchase, I may earn a small commission from the retailer — at no extra cost to you.

That’s it. No added fees. No weird tracking. No guilt if you don’t end up buying.

It’s just one way to support creators like me while shopping for things you might’ve wanted anyway.

Why I Use Them

Running The Quirky Curator takes time, effort, and more cups of tea than I’d care to count. Between writing, curating, researching, testing, photographing, and getting Mitzi’s (very opinionated) stamp of approval — this is a true labor of love.

Affiliate links help cover the basics:

  • Website hosting + tech tools

  • Product testing + planning time

  • Ongoing research + writing

  • And the occasional raccoon- or squirrel-themed distraction (it’s on brand, right?)

They allow me to keep everything here free for you while still showing up with fresh finds, helpful guides, and the kind of content that feels like chatting with a friend.

What You Can Expect From Me

Around here, transparency isn’t optional — it’s the foundation. So here’s what I promise:

  • Genuine picks only – If I wouldn’t use it, gift it, or rave about it to a friend, it doesn’t make the list.

  • Clear disclosures – Every affiliate link is labeled (usually with a quick note or a symbol).

  • No weird sponsor vibes – If it’s sponsored content, you’ll know it. Loud and clear.

  • Zero pressure – Click if you’re curious. Shop if you want. Ignore if it’s not for you. You being here already means a lot.

So What Actually Happens When You Click?

Let’s say I link to my favorite cozy raccoon blanket or that oddly brilliant kitchen gadget.

You click → browse → buy (even if it’s not the exact item I linked to). The retailer sees that you came from my page and sends a small commission my way.

You get something useful.I get to keep doing what I love. Win-win.

Got Questions? I Got You.

Affiliate links can feel a little fuzzy if you’re not already familiar with them, and I get that.

If you ever want to ask how something works or whether a product is worth it — reach out. I’ll always give you the honest scoop.

Thanks for Being Here

Whether you click every link or just browse for inspiration, I’m so happy you’re here. Every visit, share, and message helps this little corner of the internet grow.

And if you do choose to shop through one of my links? Thank you. You’re helping support a small business, a big dream, and a dog with surprisingly good taste.

xo,

Samantha (and Mitzi)

Your friendly neighborhood curator of quirks
