My Product Recommendation Process (No Gatekeeping, Just Great Finds)

Spoiler: It’s not just vibes (but vibes are definitely part of it).
The Short Answer:
At The Quirky Curator, I share everything from oddly specific gadgets to cozy comforts and “how is this so perfect?!” gifts. But if you’ve ever wondered how I choose what makes the cut — this one’s for you.
It’s not random. It’s not based on sponsorships. And it’s definitely not whatever’s trending just because it’s trending.
Here’s what actually goes into the process — no gatekeeping, just good stuff.
Function First, Always
Before anything earns a spot here, it has to actually work.
I ask:
Does it solve a real problem?
Is it better than similar options?
Would I recommend it to a friend even if there were no affiliate links involved?
If it’s all style and no substance? Pass.
Form + Personality
This is The Quirky Curator — and we don’t do boring. I gravitate toward finds that mix practicality with a little extra charm:
Tools that double as art
Gifts that feel strangely specific (in the best way)
Items that say, “I’m organized and fun at parties”
Basically, it needs to work — and spark a little joy while doing it.
Tested or Obsessively Researched
If I’ve used it, it will have passed the real life test.
If I haven’t? I research like I’m cramming for finals:
Review deep-dives
Product comparisons
Return policy checks
And maybe a few internet rabbit holes (dangerous as they can be)
Bonus points if Mitzi sits on it, steals it, or demands her own.
It’s Got to Feel Right
I don’t share things just to fill space. Every pick should make life easier, happier, or more you.
No impulse clutter. No “eh, it’s fine.” If it doesn’t feel intentional — it doesn’t make the list.
That’s the Magic Formula for My Product Recommendations
It’s part function, part flair, part “Would Mitzi approve?”
Every product here is something I’d use, gift, or genuinely love — no fluff, no filler.
Thanks for trusting me to curate the good stuff.
Samantha (and Mitzi)
Your friendly neighborhood curator of quirks
